My placement has a high spam score

A high spam score usually isn't something to worry about. It's simply a category that tools like Moz assign to certain links, and it shouldn't be treated as an absolute measure of link quality.

Why spam scores aren't fully reliable

Words like "spam" and "toxic" sound alarming, but these scores are really just a guesstimate from link analysis software and aren't 100% accurate. In fact, most websites have some percentage of links flagged as spam by these tools, including our own site and even The White House's website.

Lower tier blogs tend to receive links from lower tier websites and can be the target of second tier linking, which naturally pushes up their spam score percentages.

Our approach

We don't guarantee a specific spam score, as we don't consider it a major ranking factor. We do investigate major cases if they ever arise, though these are rare.

Our link building service is designed to offer an outsourced, affordable solution that balances quality and cost for agencies looking to scale. This means we focus on:

  • Healthily indexed, individually owned websites
  • Guaranteed Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) at the time of placement
  • Avoiding bad neighbourhoods and PBNs (private blog networks)

Our guaranteed metric is Ahrefs DR, plus Ahrefs traffic on our DR30–DR60 tiers. If you need to satisfy additional metrics beyond this, a more custom solution may suit you better.

If you're concerned about a specific placement, let us know and we'll take a look. You can find out more about our link building options on our link building and niche edits pages.
