My link isn't showing in Ahrefs or other backlink tools
If your link isn't showing up in Ahrefs or other backlink tools yet, it's almost always because these tools simply haven't crawled the page yet - not because there's a problem with your backlink.
Check Google indexing first
The most important metric for knowing whether your backlink has been "counted" is whether the post is indexed by Google. Google crawls the web much faster than any backlink tool currently can, so it will usually find your link long before Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar tools do. If your post is indexed by Google, there's nothing to worry about - it's completely normal and expected for backlink software to take longer to catch up, since these tools crawl the web at a much slower rate.
Seeing multiple links instead of none?
If the opposite is happening and Ahrefs is showing multiple links for what should be a single backlink, this is also a normal scenario. It usually happens because of blog "pagination" - as a blog post gets older and moves to page 2, then 3, then 4, and so on, Ahrefs can struggle to reconcile this and may count the same link several times.
If you visit the site directly, you'll likely find you don't actually have that many links from it. To check for this, look at the page names shown in your Ahrefs (or other backlink checker) report - pagination links often appear as /page1/, /category-x/, /archive/, or similar. This usually reconciles itself within about a week.
In both cases, these are quirks of how backlink tools crawl and index data, rather than an issue with your link itself.
