Can Community Mentions attract negative replies?
Yes, it's possible. Because community mentions are posted within genuine, active online discussions on third-party platforms, other users can reply to the thread however they like, and occasionally that includes negative or critical comments.
As these are third-party comments on third-party platforms, we don't have any control over the comments themselves or whether they can be removed. We completely understand that seeing a negative reply can be frustrating, but it's unfortunately outside of our control once a discussion is live.
If you do spot something you're concerned about, get in touch and send us the details. We'll take a look and see if there's anything we can do to help from our side. In some cases, if you're still unhappy with how a mention has played out, we may be able to offer a replacement mention as a goodwill gesture.
Why mentions are written the way they are
To keep mentions looking natural and to reduce the risk of them being flagged or removed by moderators, we don't always use your exact, full brand name in every mention. We may use shortened versions or natural variations instead, while keeping the mention clearly associated with your business. Using a long, formal business name in every comment can look promotional, which makes it more likely to be removed as spam. Writing mentions that blend into the conversation helps them last longer and work more effectively.
