Niche Edits: how they work

A niche edit is a backlink added to an existing, already-published blog post, rather than a link built from brand-new content. We find relevant, aged articles that are already ranking and indexed in Google, then add valuable new content around your link so it blends naturally into the post.

What it is

Niche edits (also known as curated or contextual links) are editorial link mentions placed within existing blog content. Because the post is already live and has built up some authority over time, search engines tend to view the link as a stronger signal than one from a brand-new article - and results can show faster than with content built from scratch.

Niche edits are similar in outcome to broken link building, where you'd normally need to recreate dead content and chase down old links. With niche edits, we instead find relevant live posts and add your link with minimal adjustment, which is quicker and keeps relevancy high.

Who it's for

Niche edits suit agencies and businesses who want to strengthen their link profile with authoritative, already-indexed placements. We generally recommend niche edits make up no more than around 40% of your overall link strategy, with blogger outreach (links from new content) forming the foundations. If you'd like a mix of both in one package, take a look at our backlink packages with Grow.

What's included

Every niche edit order includes:

  • Completely manual, genuine outreach
  • Delivery from 14 days
  • Guaranteed Domain Rating (DR) and Ahrefs traffic, checked against duplicate domains
  • Writing included, to craft the additional content around your link
  • One anchor text and target URL per placement
  • Do-follow links
  • A lifetime link guarantee
  • A money-back guarantee
  • An example white label report, and an unbranded CSV export for your own reporting

You can choose from a range of DR and traffic tiers, from DR10+ sites with lower monthly traffic up through to DR60+ sites with higher traffic. See current tiers and pricing on the niche edits page.

How it works

There are three stages:

  1. Outreach: you provide the anchor text and target URL, and our outreach team searches for suitable, relevant blog posts and contacts the site owners to negotiate adding value to their existing content.
  2. Content: our copywriting team crafts additional content for the post, weaving your link naturally into the flow so it reads as if it's always been there.
  3. Placement visibility: you'll see each niche edit placement as it's secured, live in your dashboard, along with a snapshot of the Domain Rating at the time of placement. You can export an unbranded CSV for white labelling.

You won't be able to pre-approve sites or content before a link goes live, but you can track progress and view every secured placement in your dashboard.

What you'll need to provide

For each order you'll need to supply an anchor text and a target URL. You can set your own DR requirements and word counts per entry, and place one larger order covering multiple client domains - just tag each entry in your dashboard so you can tell them apart.

Note that regional identifiers are generally removed from anchor texts, unless you're a travel client or the regional identifier is part of your business name. If you're unsure, contact support before ordering.

Delivery time

Niche edits are delivered from 14 days.

Guarantees

We offer a lifetime guarantee on all niche edit links, and a 100% money-back guarantee if your order doesn't meet our guarantees. DR and Ahrefs traffic are guaranteed at the time of placement - since DR updates regularly, we can't offer refunds or replacements if it later decreases, and we won't charge extra if it increases shortly after. If a placement is later removed, let us know via support and we'll look into replacing it. If we can't find relevant websites for a highly specialised niche, we'll notify you and issue a full refund.

Good to know

  • Placements are secured on English-speaking blogs; for UK, Australian and Canadian clients we look for blogs from those countries first, falling back on sites with a worldwide audience (.com/.net etc.) where needed.
  • We can accept gambling and casino clients through our iGaming link building tiers. Other sensitive niches, such as adult content, can be difficult - contact us to check whether your niche and target URLs are viable.
  • Niche edits and broken link building achieve a similar end result, but niche edits are generally quicker and more relevant since they don't rely on recreating removed content.
