Will my links send traffic? Can I use tracking links?

Our link building and blogger outreach placements aren't designed to send traffic, so you shouldn't expect clicks from them. You can use a tracking link if you'd like to, but we wouldn't generally recommend it.

Why these placements don't drive traffic

The content we place isn't promotional about your company, and it isn't written to 'pre-sell' or convert readers into leads. It's also not written in a way that entices clicks. This is intentional - the sole purpose of these placements is SEO, not traffic.

Links are placed within the content in an impartial way, with no encouragement or advertorial tactics designed to get visitors to click through. This helps signal to Google that your brand is being talked about and linked to naturally, which can help reward your site with more search exposure over time.

Because of this, traffic isn't a metric you should measure or expect from these placements.

Can I use a tracking link?

If you'd like to, you can provide us with a tracking link, as long as it doesn't reference fatjoe. That said, we wouldn't advise using a tracking link in most circumstances, for a couple of reasons:

  • You shouldn't expect meaningful traffic from these placements, so there's limited value in tracking clicks
  • Tracking links can dilute the "link juice" passed through to your site

A direct link is always the better option for SEO purposes. You can find out more about how our placements work on our link building and blogger outreach pages.
