Glossary: common SEO terms used on fatjoe

Here's a quick explanation of the terms you'll see most often across fatjoe's dashboard, order pages and reports.

Domain Rating (DR, Ahrefs)

Domain Rating is a metric from Ahrefs that scores the overall strength of a website's backlink profile on a scale of 0-100. We use Ahrefs' DR as our main guaranteed metric on our blogger outreach and niche edits tiers - you choose the DR band you want, and we guarantee the DR at the time of placement. DR is updated regularly, so the figure can change afterwards; we can't refund or replace a placement if its DR rises or falls after the first day it went live.

Ahrefs traffic

This refers to the estimated monthly organic traffic a site receives, as measured by Ahrefs. We guarantee Ahrefs traffic alongside DR on our tiers, giving you an extra signal that a blog has a genuine, active audience rather than just a strong link profile.

Anchor text

Anchor text is the clickable wording used for your link within a piece of content. You provide the anchor text for each placement when you order, along with the target URL you want it to point to.

Target URL

This is the specific page on your (or your client's) website that you want the link to point to. You'll supply a target URL for every placement you order.

Dofollow / nofollow

Dofollow and nofollow are link attributes that tell search engines whether to pass authority through a link. Dofollow links pass SEO value and are what we use across our link building services. Nofollow links don't pass this value in the same way, so they're typically used where a dofollow link isn't appropriate.

In-content link

An in-content link is a link placed naturally within the body of an article, as part of the flow of the content, rather than in an author bio or sidebar. This is how all our blogger outreach and niche edits links are placed, which is one of the reasons they're viewed as more authoritative by search engines than author-box links.

Niche edit

A niche edit is a link added to an existing, already-published blog post, rather than a brand-new article. We reach out to the site owner and add valuable supporting content around your link, so it blends naturally into aged, already-indexed content. See niche edits for more detail.

Blogger outreach (ghost post)

Blogger outreach involves creating a brand-new article and placing it on a relevant blog, with your link naturally woven into the content. We call these "ghost posts" because, unlike typical guest posts, the article appears to have been written by the blog owner themselves rather than carrying an outside author's byline. Find out more on the blogger outreach page.

White label report

A white label report is an unbranded summary of your completed placements - including the content and link details - that you can export as a CSV from your dashboard and share with your own clients under your own branding, without any mention of fatjoe.

Express Delivery

Express Delivery is a faster turnaround option available on some services for an extra fee. For current availability and timings on a specific service, please check the relevant product page or contact support.

Awaiting Inputs

You may see an order marked "Awaiting Inputs" in your dashboard. This means we're waiting on details from you - such as anchor text, target URLs, or other content specifications - before we can begin work on your order.

Account credit

Account credit is a balance held on your fatjoe account that can be put towards future orders. If you're not sure how a refund or credit applies to your account, our support team can check this for you.
